If your family qualifies for Free or Reduced-Price Meals based on the annual USDA income guidelines, you are eligible to have certain school fees waived automatically.

The Two Steps to Receive Automatic Waivers

To qualify for and receive fee waivers, you must complete both steps below every school year:
 

Step 1:  Apply for Free & Reduced-Price Meals

1. Complete the Free & Reduced-Price Meals Application online via the “Food Services” tab in Skyward.
   NOTE: This application must be completed annually as it does not automatically renew.
   
   Online applications are preferred. Paper copies are available at every school or can be printed from the Food Services page.
    
2. Contact for questions: For help with the application, contact the Food Services Department at NutritionServices@bisd303.org or call (206) 780-1844.

Step 2: Give Permission for Fee Waivers

1. Access the form: If your family qualifies, you will gain access to a special online form in the “Online Forms” tab in Skyward called “Release of Information.”

2. Select Waivers: On this form, select the specific fee categories you want to be waived for your student.

   • Waiver Categories Include: ASB Membership, District Events Fee Waiver, Field Trip Fee Waiver (curricular), and Testing and Class Fee Waiver.

3. Submit Annually: You must complete this form every year in October to ensure your waivers continue or to make adjustments. Please look for the form labeled with the current school year.

In order to receive the requested waivers in the InTouch Online Payment site, you must follow the steps as if you are paying for the item. If steps 1 and 2 have been completed correctly, the item will show up for $0 at checkout.

Example: If you qualify for free meals and you fill out the form indicating that you would like the cost of an ASB card waived, login to the InTouch Online Payment site and purchase an ASB card.  You will not need to use your credit card to check out but by completing this process, your student will appear on the list of paid ASB card holders.  For questions on the payment piece, please contact the office manager, aschilf@bisd303.org.

Scholarships/ Financial Assistance

We understand some families may need support for items that are not covered by the automatic fee waivers or who may not qualify for the Free & Reduced-Price Meals Program.

REMINDER: You must reapply each school year to receive benefits from the free/reduced lunch program. Those who qualify for free and reduced lunch will automatically receive additional benefits if they provide permission for their status to be shared with the fee administrator.
